As announced at the AGM, up to two Awards will be given each year to recognise:
- an outstanding Hertfordshire naturalist and/or
- someone who has made an outstanding contribution to natural history in Hertfordshire.
We are proud to announce that the Society?s inaugural 1875 Award has been presented to Colin Plant for his outstanding contribution to natural history in Hertfordshire. Colin, who has been our County Recorder for moths for over ten years, is the author of the impressive HNHS book The Moths of Hertfordshire published last July. To buy a copy of Colin's book, see the publications page.
The name of the award commemorates the founding of the Society in 1875. The hunt is now on for nominations for the 2009 awards.
