We welcome all your records. Selected records appear in the recent sightings list on the species groups page but all records submitted are held in the database and will be used to produce the annual report as well as contributing towards the Mammal, amphibian and reptile atlas project. Submission of a wildlife record creates data which may be classed as personal information. Our privacy policy explains how the HNHS and Herts Bird Club comply with their data protection obligations.

Please provide your name and email address. Use the padlock symbol to save these fields for subsequent submissions.

Please enter the date of your observation.

Please select the species using the autocomplete box. Please use the observation box to state whether the record was a field sign or an actual sighting, and if a bat, whether this was picked up on a bat detector. For field signs, please enter information about the relevant number seen in the comments box and leave the 'total count' box empty. The 'overall comment' box may be used to add any other information, including breeding status, interesting behaviours observed, whether it was road kill and your level of certainty in the accuracy of your identification.

Please provide a location for the record. Select a place using the Location autocomplete box to move the map to the defined 1km (4-figure) reference for that location. To enter a more precise location, zoom in the map and click within the shaded area. The map base layer can be changed using the '+' pop-out control on the right-hand edge of the map. If your location name does not appear in the drop down list, simply type it in and then use the map to find the grid reference associated with your record. Please provide at least a six figure grid reference if possible. If you already know your grid reference simply type it into the box and press Check to double check its location on the map.
