
St Albans Museum + Galleries and the HNHS have got together to arrange a great programme of Easter holiday activities to coincide with our 150th anniversary Wild about Hertfordshire exhibition.
- On April 10, county bryophyte recorder Agneta Burton leads a family-friendly session at the museum on 'Mosses under the microscope'.
- On April 17, ecologist and Bird club committee member Graham White will be give a child-friend version of his popular 'Have I got Poos for You!' talk, with (hygenic!) samples of animal droppings.
- Also on April 17, Roger Havard, recent winner of the Society's 1875 Award, will be introducing children to the 'Wonderful World of Bats' (two sessions)
All these sessions are suitable for children aged 7 and over (with accompanying adult) Plus:
- 15 & 16 April, Making wildflower seed bombs and fat ball bird feeders. Suitable for children aged 5 and over with an accompanying adult.
Families can also enjoy activities for children in the exhibition itself. Dress up as your favourite wild animal. Find the Fox, Badger and Muntac foot prints that lead to their favourite food. Look for the six model Wood Mice hidden around the galleries and win a sticker. Try our out of doors wildlife trail, in search of Peregrine Falcons, Herons, Egrets, Kingfishers, butterflies and bees – all within short walking distance!
