Public consultation is taking place on Hertfordshire's draft Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) with Monday 8 September set as the closing date for comments.
The strategy, which is a Government requirement for English authorities, sets out measures needed to support nature recovery across the county, and how and where it needs to be done. A Hertfordshire Nature Recovery Partnership (HNRP) bringing together organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors, has worked with the county council for almost two years to prepare the draft strategy .
The draft LNRS identifies priority actions for ten different habitat groups across the county and specifies location where the greatest impact can potentially be achieved.
According to Cllr Paul Zukowskyj, chair of the Hertfordshire Nature Recovery Partnership the strategy is not a fixed blueprint, nor the property of any one organisation. "It is an enabling framework - built on partnership - designed to inspire and empower local action. Through this shared effort, we've identified clear priorities, produced detailed maps, and proposed species-specific measures. Together, these create a powerful foundation for a flourishing, resilient and inclusive natural landscape."
