June with her characteristic enthusiasm and fun has been a mainstay of natural history in east Herts for many years. She is a good all round naturalist, with special interests in fungi and plants, although she knows her insects birds and mammals pretty well too. For a number of years she, supported by her husband, organised the toad rescue at Amwell; translocating hundreds of toads that would have met their deaths on the road during their annual migration. She almost single-handedly ran the Cheshunt Natural History Society, lead countless field trips, gives dozens of talks and inspires young and old with the magic of nature.
An outstanding contributor to natural history in Hertfordshire
