Early spring is here and once again we are asking for records of rookery nest counts to be submitted to the website. Rookeries have been counted in Hertfordshire for a long time and for the past few years we have been collating the counts to try and chart the fortunes of this species.
The 2021 county survey found that the population appears to be stable, being at about the same level as the previous survey in 1993 – see the 2021 Hertfordshire Bird Report for more details
Please submit your records here including a nest count and six-figure grid reference where possible. A count of the nests that are active is not necessary, just the number of complete nests, provided the rookery as a whole is active
