The Hertfordshire Bird Report 2020 was published and circulated to HNHS/Bird Club members in November 2021 (Transactions of the Hertfordshire Natural History Society, Vol. 5 (2), pp. 85-172.)

The report reviews each of the 195 species recorded in Hertfordshire in 2020 (down three from 2010) including Red-footed Falcon, Long-tailed Skua, Fulmar and Red-necked Phalarope. In a year when recording was impeded by the Covid-19 pandemic, it also reports on a remarkable list of species seen or heard from gardens, including Common Scoter, Great White Egret, Goshawk, Osprey Woodcock, 60 Mediterranean Gulls and a Yellow-browed Warbler. Thanks go to everyone who contributed to the report not least more than 900 observers and increased the number of Herts records for the year by a quarter to over 285,000.

The report is sent free of charge to Herts Bird Club or full HNHS members. It is available price £10 to non-members who should should contact David Utting, the HNHS Secretary
