Survey work on the new Hertfordshire Mammal, Amphibian and Reptile Atlas (Herts MARA) is now in its final year. And the organisers need help surveying a few localities from which an improbably low number of records has been received.

Every month until December, the MARA team will be visiting a different area to carry out small mammal trapping, visual searches, pond surveys and other activities. Volunteers can find details of these field visits on our Meetings page, or you can contact Chantal Helm for more details.

Meanwhile, please keep submitting your records until the end of the year. You can also check the website for information about under-recorded tetrads (2km squares) where your sightings could be specially valuable.
