Publishing bird records and results of surveys and monitoring is a vital role of the Bird Club. Records submitted through the website appear in 'Recent Sightings' on the home page and in the 'Sightings archive'. We now publish monthly summaries, see the link below.

The first Report on Hertfordshire Birds was published 130 years ago in 1878 by the Hertfordshire Natural History Society. A bird report has been published in most years ever since as part of the Transactions of the HNHS.

The Hertfordshire Bird Report
was first published as a separate part of the Transactions In 1980 and every year since.

The current Bird Report is distributed free to all members of The Herts Bird Club and Hertfordshire Natural History Society.

The 2007 Bird Report and copies from previous years can be purchased from Linda Smith, send a cheque, payable to HNHS, to Linda Smith, 24 Mandeville Rise, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 7JU. Follow the Bird Report link below for details and prices.

The web-based monthly summaries have replaced the bimonthly Bird Bulletin which was published until autumn 2008, back copies of the Bird Bulletin can be viewed by following the link below.

Some local groups have produced bird reports for specific Hertfordshire sites; these give access details and information on the birdlife in those parts of the county. Follow the link below.
